BREXIT Debate Part One
On Thursday, 23 June 2016 a referendum is being held across the United Kingdom, to decide whether the UK should leave or remain in the European Union. The UK has voted to leave the European Union, shocking the world and revealing a divided country doing something no country has ever done it before although many have tried in the past. There is no denying the fact that Europe is at a crossroads facing many crisis and vulnerabilities, such as economic and monetary crisis; immigration; terrorism; safety and security; environment, energy and climate change; health inequalities; ageing population; integration and social policies including the relationship with Russia; and high levels of unemployment particularly among the youth. Faced with all of these issues, it is not surprising that for many people it is becoming very hard to be optimistic about Europe’s future.
This session will discuss and gather viewpoints from across the world about the impact of BREXIT on global economy and sustainability. In addition to the conference delegates, there will be contributions from across the world by various international experts and scholars via skype and other social media tools.
